The competitive swim season ended a few weeks ago. With only a week left in summer, we will probably visit the town pool only once or twice more. The pool and swimming has been a source of creative inspiration for me for the past few years.
This summer I designed fabrics in the swimming/pool theme:

and did two paintings:
Here are other swim inspired pieces from previous years:
The last item in the slideshow (the “Vets” cards with goggles) was the first time I added ink to a watercolor. It was a turning point for me and has become something I do often.

Thanks so much Jill!
I’m glad you’ve pursued this. As a swimmer, I’ve always been fascinated by the light underwater…sometimes there’s a beautiful beam of sunlight in the water or a glint of indoor light on swimmers, but I’ve never taken the time to paint at a pool. (Too busy with laps). I haven’t been swimming lately, but your paintings are a nice reminder of what is possible. Thanks!
Jean, thanks so much! I did an issue of my newsletter that’s all Swimming inspired art if you want to check it out: http://us9.campaign-archive1.com/?u=185f99e4a6817418b5744d754&id=6fcedf8ae6 Hope you’re enjoying the end of summer! 😀
